Making of the NYMVAE Quilt - Finished!
Jen and I have finished the quilt, and we couldn't be more pleased! This is the second quilt we have ever made. The first was for NYMVAE's last gala, and was also a log cabin pattern using fabrics from NYMVAE's costume fabric collection. Well, we learned a few things! We are still very proud of that first quilt, but on this one the back looks almost as good as the front.
Making of the NYMVAE Quilt - Part 2
Hi Ho.. Hi Ho.. a quilting we will go!!
After spending the many hours of cutting fabric, we set to work piecing together the 35 squares. With a few false starts and one or two re-dos, a steady assembly line was formed. With one of us prepping the next piece of fabric and the other one sewing, we managed to complete 4 squares in just under an hour! Luckily, we had the Met's broadcast of Carmen to keep us entertained.
Making of the NYMVAE Quilt - Part 1
Many years ago, NYMVAE received a generous donation of fabrics. These fabrics have been used to create some of NYMVAE's most memorable costumes and sets.
Juli and I have sewn quite a few of those costumes. For the last benefit, we decided to try our hands at making a quilt using smaller pieces of the fabrics. Using the log cabin pattern, a small baby quilt was completed and now warms a little's bed of a frequent NYMVAE performer.
